Stephen Bragoli grew up on the East end of Long Island, where he learned to appreciate quality food from a young age in his family’s Italian kitchen. Every night he watched his father make homemade meals for their family of twelve, which was no easy task. With a household this large, dinner was more than just a time to eat; it was a time to gather and celebrate each other around the kitchen table.
Stephen’s father wasn’t a chef by trade, but he skillfully created meals for his family. He cooked simple recipes shaped from his Italian roots in which the ingredients were fresh and the results delicious. Food was the factor that brought the family together both then and now.
Lovers of all things food and wine, Stephen and his wife Diane have implemented
mealtime as an activity they enjoy together. As a successful business owner in another field, Stephen doesn’t have much free time. When he does, it’s spent both eating and enjoying amazing restaurants. After visiting Chef Marco’s previous establishment, they were impressed both by his unparalleled culinary skills and charmed by his Italian customs. Their friendship developed almost instantly, no doubt over a great dish and bottle of wine, and soon a partnership was formed.
Stephen, along with one of his brothers Daniel, helped bring Chef Marco’s Osteria Umbra dream to fruition. Stephen’s dedication and attention to detail transformed the project into the stunning restaurant you see and, hopefully, feel.
Stephen and Diane have kept the big family tradition alive with their four children. When they get together its around the family table.
